We just gotta keep fightin' the good fight. Get the message to the fearful, the bigots, the uninformed. You might not be able to change all of their minds... but even if we can only change one, it's worth it.

The "Cowboy" mentality so many people seem to have. "Yeah, we'll get them before they get us" shit.

The "I have nothing to hide so I don't care if they wiretap/eavesdrop/spy on me" mindset.

The attitude that it's okay to torture "them" because they dress funny, so they must deserve it.

The steady creeping in (hell, the shoving-it's-way-in) of a "religious" test for our candidates. Keep your bible out of my politics, folks. I don't care what your religion is; just keep it under your hat and quit trying to shove it down my throat.

And most of all, the Imperial Presidency shit. We are NOT England; we do NOT have a King. But that's how Bush (and Cheney) are playing it, and Congress and many idiot citizens just go right along with it.

I fucking hate what's going on in this country now.

Just a few minutes ago I was thinking about how there's a couple of teenage girls here I think a great deal of — Our Hope for the Future and all that — and if I were 18 again, I'd certainly want to be their friend.

But in our society, men (and I suppose women, to some extent) are strongly discouraged from saying things like that because of What People Might Think. I think that's seriously fucked up.

Hell, I'll probably get flamed and/or judged just for posting this.
