Wow. Plant sterols and a veg diet work wonders!
My total cholesterol a year ago: 208

Test results today: 103

Plant sterols. Ask for 'em by name.

And stop eating meat!

1. In what form are you using the
plant sterols? Not sure how they come.

2. I take some over the counter tablets

I get 'em at Walgreen's. Don't mean to advertise here. They sell several brands. I have no idea which are best, but these work for me.

Ever since I had hepatitis A a few years ago, my liver numbers have been a little bit high, so statins may be risky. My doc was quite impressed. Said she'd heard that plant sterols work, but has always prescribed statins (probably gets nice "gifts" from the pharmaceutical companies).

3. Thanx!

I'll have to give that a try, I think. Is it very pricey?

I've already reduced my meat intake significantly.

4. I think I've paid about $12 per bottle of 60.
You take two pills twice a day, before meals.

15. I know.. I was a mouse click away from buying on Amazon.
They have 240 for $28 with shipping.

I had to run to Walgreens this AM for salt and looked - lo and behold, I took it!

BTW, thank you so much for the info. My cholestorol is high and doc wants to put me on meds. I can't imagine right now, I am only in my mid 30's. I don't want to be on that crap for 40-50 years. :(

So, I am doing the Vitamin C therapy (http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/sepp/2003/11/09/vitamin_c_beats_statins_in_cholesterol_heart_disease.htm), quit smoking and I am trying to get to the gym.

Thank you again!!

:)

13. I'll have to check it out
mine was a bit high a few years back, but not quite at a danger level.

A friend that is a cardiologist also recommended Red Yeast Rice because it does have statins in it. But, this might be worth looking into as well.

7. Thanks for the info. I'll look into it. Btw,
my nutritionist sister says that globe artichoke in liquid form (designated 1:2) removes fat from the liver. Unfortunately, it's only available through practitioners.

8. That's great!
Going vegetarian was the only thing that got my son's genetics-related high-cholesterol down to a reasonable level.
