1. RIP..... and ... 'Don't Eat The Yellow Snow'
Don't Eat The Yellow Snow

BY Frank Zappa

Dreamed I was an Eskimo
(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)
Frozen wind began to blow
(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)
Under my boots 'n around my toe
(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)
Frost had bit the ground below
(Boop-boop aiee-ay-ah!)
Was a hundred degrees below zero
(Booh!)
(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)
And my momma cried:
Boo-a-hoo hoo-ooo
And my momma cried:
Nanook-a, no no (no no . . . )
Nanook-a, no no (no no . . . )
Don't be a naughty Eskimo-wo-oh
(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop-bop Ta-da-da)
Save your money: don't go to the show
Well I turned around an' I said:
HO HO
(Booh!)
Well I turned around an' I said:
HO HO
(Booh!)
Well I turned around an' I said:
HO HO
An' the Northern Lites commenced t' glow
An' she said
(Bop-bop ta-da-da bop . . . )
With a tear in her eye:
WATCH OUT WHERE THE HUSKIES GO
AN' DON'T YOU EAT THAT YELLOW SNOW
WATCH OUT WHERE THE HUSKIES GO
AN' DON'T YOU EAT THAT YELLOW SNOW

8. The only way you can get it fixed up
Is to go trudgin' across the tundra . . .
Mile after mile
Trudgin' across the tundra . . .
Right down to the parish of Saint Alfonzo . . .

Yes indeed, here we are!
At Saint Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast
Where I stole the mar-juh-reen
An' widdled on the Bingo Cards in lieu of the latrine
I saw a handsome parish lady
Make her entrance like a queen
Why she was totally chenille
And her old man was a Marine
As she abused a sausage pattie
And said why don't you treat me mean?
(Hurt me, hurt me, hurt me, oooooh!)
At Saint Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast
(Hah! Good God! Get off the bus!)
Where I stole the mar-juh-reen . . .
Saint Alfonzo
Saint Alfonzo
Saint Alfonzo
Saint Alfonzo
Ooo-ooo-WAH . . .

2. The one and only
Dumb All Over

Whoever we are
Wherever were from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
Its gonna take a lot more
Than tryin to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether

They call it the earth
Which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right
cause we behave the same...
We are dumb all over
Dumb all over,
Yes we are
Dumb all over,
Near n far
Dumb all over,
Black n white
People, we is not wrapped tight...

3.  I still remember when I heard he died, and where I was when he died.
FZ and Todd Rundgren are my two biggest musical heroes. Turns out FZ died while I was in the middle of my first Todd Rundgren concert. Weird, eh?

The following Monday, my mother called me at college to tell me that FZ was gone. When I arrived at the music building where I spent most of my time, two different friends came up and hugged me.

6. Was that sarcasm?
Zappa was pretty liberal, if I recall. My memory could be way off, as I posted my response thinking that living in Bush's America might kill somebody like him.

7. Not at all. He hated both parties equally, I think. Supported Mario Cuomo.
He was a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. It's all outlined in his book.

12. Okay. I must have heard it wrong; I read the word "conservative"
in his description of himself. I leapt to what seemed a logical conclusion...

11. I Know I've Told This Story Before, But, . . .
. . .i had breakfast with Frank in the atrium at the Frankfurter Hof a couple years before he died.

He was on tour in Europe and happened to be in Frankfurt at the same time we were there on biz.

I saw him and two of his kids in the hallway the day before. So, the next morning i went down to get breakfast and he was sitting outside the restaurant in a glassed-in atrium area next the main lobby.

I went over, introduced myself and told him i admired his playing and how he could pull together so many good bands.

He said "Have you had breakfast yet?" I told him no, so he said "Sit down! I'm buying!" And he called the waiter over. We ate and talked for about 45 minutes, i said thanks and good bye.

A true, up-close-and-personal brush with greatness.
The Professor
