The connection to the power source on my laptop keeps going out!

I have to fiddle with it each time while scarred the battery will die off, because it is a joke and holds a charge for about 15 minutes.

I used to unplug the thing when I shut the puter off because I wanted to save electricity. Maybe I made it loose that way.

Anyway has this problem ever happened to anyone else?

1. Is it one of those little jacks?

Having designed laptops in a previous life, I know how flaky those things can get. On the plus side, they are easy to replace by any technician or anyone moderately adept with a soldering iron.

3. I had that happen too...

Turned out to be cheaper to replace the laptop. This was a 5 plus year old IBM laptop. The cost of repair was insane.

6. That sounds like a ripoff

It's probably the easiest soldering job inside the box -- doesn't involve any of those tiny little surface mount components. And if you can't find a compatible replacement jack, just head down to Radio Shack or Frys and buy a matching plug and jack and replace the plug on the charger as well.

4. Sometimes you can keep the jack in by...

...wrapping a rubber band around the neck of the jack (where it joins the cable) and then stretching the band over the laptop itself. If the jack plugs into the back, stretch the band over the screen and slide it down to the bottom where it won't obscure your view. If the jack plugs into the side, stretch the band over the bottom of the computer, sliding it up to the top of the keyboard. This should help to keep it plugged in until you can get the jack repaired or replaced.

5. BE CAREFUL!! Mine had a bad connection and was overheating BADLY.

Almost fried my motherboard; could have started a fire possibly. Check for overheating.
I had mine repaired on this HP laptop at a cost of $350.
