1. First job - Working at a riding stable in exchange for lessons. I was 13.

2. Favorite job - I think road construction. Working outdoors, working up a sweat, getting in shape, working with a bunch of hot guys. :P

When I got fired after 10 years at a law firm, my phone rang before I was out the door with another offer. The IT guy at the law firm called his wife and told her that I was available and her biz snatched me up.

I told the supervisor I was applying to work for I had experience with x and y products; both of which non-mainstream but both of which they had used. It was my knowledge of those extra products that got me the job. Now figure how come everything's being made more centralized and off-the-shelf...)

No, but close. When I gave my notice, I was treated very rudely. Not entirely fairly either. (I wasn't perfect, but having later heard he lost customers, I think he realized he lost something of an asset. Aspie or otherwise.)

Still debating between updating server/networking skills, an ad designer, or photojournalist. Choice #1 is the most economically viable of the three. The middle one I know I can do better than many, but they'll offshore it to the cheapest wanker so why bother (it's about money, not talent). Anyone can read and write, and with more people not caring to read why should I attend a 4 year college for a degree for a job now devalued to puppy scrap wages? It's about money, not talent. But one still needs to incorporate talent and interest in order to keep it viable. A form of personal symbiosis so one can remain viable. No doubt they'll bring in a lot of newbie offshored "talent" to (effectively screw up everything on server-side anyway, but what the hell. I'm a Gen-X cynic after all...)

I'm not mentioning bioengineering. Once I heard that was going offshore, why get neck deep into debt for what will be an un-repayable pipedream because somebody gave education to somebody else at affordable prices? If we're to be globalized and mean business about having home-grown talent, everything's got to be level - otherwise everything just goes elsewhere. And those countries will likely figure that out too. (Not right now, obviously.)
