3. Yep. The best solution is to leave a door open and wait for the bird to find it.
On a cold winter day that's probably not an option under consideration.

4. We sometimes have birds fly into the building where I work. I
close all the doors but one and turn off all the lights. This usually causes the bird to fly toward the door because it's the brightest area they can see. I don't know if that would work in an area with a lot of windows.
