For Christmas, when I was about 15, my dad gave my mom a transparent, red négligée, trimmed with black boa, for Christmas. I think he probably meant for her to open it privately, but on Christmas morning, just after my father finished reading us the Bible story of Jesus' birth and freed us to open our gifts, Mom ripped into her gift from Dad just as we kids (me, my sister, 14, and my seven-year-old brother) ripped into our gifts. My little brother was _thrilled_. THRILLED, I tell ya, that my mom got something so "fancy" and "beautiful." So thrilled was he that he insisted she go try it on. Mom obliged and modeled it for us -- over her swimsuit!!!! -- much to my father's embarrassment. What a GREAT Christmas morning _that_ was; my favorite EVER! :rofl:

THIRTY years later, that Christmas morning is fondly remembered by Mom and us. (But Dad still doesn't get the joke.) :rofl: :spray:

I seriously doubt that it was worn more than once.

She also still has matching red faux-leather gloves and plastic beaded neckace, earrings and bracelet that my brother bought at a garage sale for her birthday one year -- also worn once, to Sunday morning worship at my dad's Baptist church in Bible-belt-buckle, Oklahoma. Mom was and is a _great_ believer in validating her children's generosity of spirit. :rofl:

Aside: My brother's four-year-old son is enrolled in pre-kindergarten at a Catholic school this year, and Mom thinks that Christmas Eve mass would be a great occasion to resurrect the gloves and matching jewelry. Gawd, but she's ornery. :rofl: :spray:
