Aaaaah, simple pleasures. What are yours?
Edited on Thu Dec-06-07 08:20 PM by GaYellowDawg
I just had this: hot tea with lime and sugar (okay, Equal) on a cold evening. Just beautiful. Anybody have any similarly simple pleasures? I got some good news today and I'm just in a mood to hear people talk about what makes them happy.

2. Great idea for a thread.
Did you just watch Amelie? Well, if not, put that on the list of things to do.

Here are a few of mine:

Listening to Garrison Keillor do The Writer's Almanac on NPR each morning.

A very large mug of hot English breakfast tea with milk.

Having the newspaper delivered every day.

5. Snuggling in bed with my four year old.
He cannot start the day without curling up in my bed with me, even if it is just for two or three minutes. I have a new queen bed with new mattress and box springs. Very cozy and a humbling and heart warming way to start the day. Definitely tells you what your priorities are.

8. A good book, a fire, and a glass of Cognac or Armagnac - with a pipe or cigar, even better.
The first cup of coffee in the morning.

Waking up to a rainy or a snowy day, opening all the curtains, and enjoying that first cup of coffee in the ambient light of a dark kind of day.

Overcast days.

Winter.

Being warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.

T-Bones or Ribeyes off the grill.

The pleadings of the old guy to let him live, please, God, let me live, after you've thrown him down the stairs and sprayed him with a Powdered Copper Class-D fire extinguisher.

Oh, hell, a good book any time, anywhere, even if doesn't come with a glass of brandy or a fireplace. There is little better than a good book.

Spending all day inside, staying in one's pajamas and not doing anything productive.

A walk in the woods.

Holding hands with a loved one.

32. I get real joy from...
Edited on Fri Dec-07-07 10:59 AM by jasonc
Having my GF fall asleep in my arms while watching tv or just sitting in front of the fireplace relaxing...

When that happens I usually pull a blanket over us and let her sleep and hold her while reveling in how lucky I am to have such a sweet, kind, wonderful and beautiful woman in my life.
