Who else is iced in this morning?
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 09:13 AM by YellowRubberDuckie
It looks like the whole midwest is covered in ice. Who else is staying home today?
I'm sitting here with a dachshund on my lap. She isn't letting me get too far from her this morning. She woke up screaming this morning. If I ever get my hands on the people who abused her they are going to get an ass kicking. That's what I'm doing this morning. How about yourself?

1. Poor girl. Give her a nice ear rub for me.
I can't understand those that would do anything but love a dog. It just goes to show you that there is evil in this world.

I am right below the front that brought the ice storm to you guys. I actually slept with my windows open last night! I hope your power stays on and you stay toasty warm.

I am hanging around the house but having to keep a close eye on Lucy my new pup. She is "sort of" getting this house training thing. I finally convinced her she can poop outside instead of on one of the many dog pillows in the house. (the other guys didn't appreciate that!) She still has issues with peeing though. I feel compelled to include a picture of her........

2. What a sweet little face....
Give her a ridiculous amount of kisses from Auntie Duckie. How's she fitting in with the other dogs?

3. She is a "hit" with all but the old guy.
This guy in particular is great with her;

Curly will play for hours with her, he lets her tug on his fur and wrestles with her. Its as if he has adopted her as his "toy". Sometimes all four younger dogs will play fight with her, it wears her out but she really seems to enjoy it.

4. My Prudence needs a buddy.
We're talking about finding a Dapple Dachshund so she'll have a friend. She is fascinated with other dogs, but is way too dignified to play with them. I'm thinking if she had a buddy at home she'd be more likely to do so. I love the way dogs behave with each other. It's fascinating and hilarious to watch. Your family seems sweet.

5. Just emailed my best friend in OKC
She works at the capitol building...are they open this morning? Or are a lot of places closed due to the sleet storm that came in?

Hi Duckie! Stay safe and warm! :hi:

6. Power is flickering...I may lose it altogether soon....
The rain is falling and we're lucky we're in a 24 story building. All the ambient heat will trickle up.
Anyway, the capitol building is closed except for essentials this morning. A friend of mine works at the Department of Commerce, and he had already decided he's going getting out on the road with the crazies. I decided the same thing. Skip's boss called him at 6 this morning and told him to stay in. There was one job going out, and they'll be rescheduling. (He manages the warehouse at a window company here) So, I called my boss, and he agreed I should stay in. But anyway, I'm rambling, so I'll take care. :) You, too, Nelly.

7. NE Oklahoma, everybody has ice but me
I live SE of Muskogee and all we have is cold rain. Not 5 miles NE of me there is heavy ice on the trees and streets. We are expected to get more freezing rain today and tonight.

After going without electricity for 12 days in January of this year, I have no desire to repeat that experience. Mrsazemisery had a 15,000 watt generator installed last month. He was hoping the power would shut down just to see how well it works. NO THANK YOU, VERY MUCH. In the last 7 years we have had 2 occasions to be without power for 10 - 12 days. We only had a 5500 watt generator those times so all we could run was the blower on the fireplace insert, refridgerator, freezers, and an electric heater for the laundry room that always freezes up. The new generator is supposed to run most everything except the downstairs heating unit, range, microwave, washer, dryer and dishwasher. I am hoping we never have to use it EVER!

9. Thanks, Duckie, I will
Being self employed I can work from home. Mrsazemisery will go to the office regardless of the weather, workaholic that he is.

11. My family and I are prepped.

We live in K.C., and it hasn't hit yet, but my wife works at a hotel 11 miles away. My son works just a few blocks from her at city hall. They have already made arrangements to spend the next three days where she works. It's going to be a duzy of an ice storm. I am well stocked and will keep my dog company. We'll be fine, as long as we don't lose power.
