Watchmen-- The Movie-- a link to some stills...
Looks pretty good to me...

And this coming from a guy who thinks there has never yet been a good film translation of a comic book/graphic novels.

Notice the kid at the newsstand reading the comic book? That kind of detail is a good omen to me. Though I doubt the pirate vignette will show up, it's may be referenced...

4. To me, that only ensures that the movie will be visually interesting.

The greatness of Alan Moore is all about depth; the layers of the characters and the subtlety of the plotting.
I can't say that I saw anything in "300" that leads me to believe that these are Zack Snyder's strong points.

Throw in the fact that the story will have to be cut by half, or more, to make a movie less than 3 hours long, and I don't see a chance of it being worthy of the source material.

I want to be wrong about this.

5. I tend to agree...
I tend to agree. 300 was fun to watch on the visual level as it seemed to be one beautiful framed still shot after another edited together into a few nice montages here and there. But there was almost zero character development in 300. I felt more like I was watching a full length PC game intro.

I think that 300 was more of the same pablum. Visually stimulating pablum, but still...
