Really.

I lived on Algiers Point, a neighborhood in New Orleans. The "West Bank" part of greater New Orleans (Algiers, Gretna, Harvey, Marrero, Westwego) is actually south of the East Bank, since the river is actually running east/west before it turns south again.

And to make things even more complicated, to get to the west bank, you actually have to drive east over another portin of the river that is north/south.

This is why you should never, ever try to drive in NOLA without a trained professional.
