I was counting the number of accidents I've been in
Edited on Mon Dec-17-07 07:33 PM by lizziegrace
in 30 years, I've been in 9

2 were my fault (hydroplaned), 2 were drunk drivers who hit me, and 2 were teenagers who didn't see I was stopped with a turn signal flashing. 3 were people who backed into my parked car in parking lots.

I'm thinking there's a big "hit me" sign on the back of my cars... x(

How about you?

2. *knocking furiously on wood*
None yet! My DAD actually had an accident in my car -- he sideswiped a parked car and knocked the rearview mirror off. It was this hilarious role-reversal -- "you did WHAT young man????" LOL

Anyway, i think you have filled your quota for life -- you should be fine from now on!

4 i was alone, 2 were my fault 2 were not, the other 4 my husband was driving, twice in 9 months he smashed the front end of my Honda "Why do you hate my car??!!!" and the other 2 were in his old camry, both times in that car were also his fault.

5. You have to stop driving those invisible cars
When I got rear ended twice in two weeks I concluded my car was invisible and traded it in. Clearly that is your problem.

I hope the streak has ended.

6. Rear ended 6 times.
One drove away.

All the others were just being inattentive.

I've also had a couple parked cars hit.

9. Mmmm... five, I think
In 35 years. Let's see...

:bluebox: 1976-ish: Dude was turning left, not looking where he was going and hit me almost head-on (albeit at a combined speed of about 25 mph) and took out my grille and bumper. His insurance paid off, I found all the parts at a wrecking yard, fixed it myself and came out about $120 ahead. :)

:bluebox: 1980-ish: Cruising South Main, stopped in traffic, 16-year-old kid rear-ended me. Oddly enough, his dad was a friend of mine and we settled without bugging the insurance companies. (I had a beer between my legs, and the first thing I did was hand it to my girlfriend and yell, "Get rid of it! Throw it out the window!")

:bluebox: Mid-'80s: Assistant fire chief in a department car hit me. City insurance covered it.

:graybox: 1995 or thereabouts: It had just rained and I was going too fast on the freeway, hydroplaned, spun... well, I dunno how many degrees, but I ended up in the very wide median, thank dog, perpendicular to the road. Didn't hit anything, but my truck was stuck in the mud and I had to call AAA.

:redbox: Election day, 2004: I was turning left into my polling place when this BOzo decided to pass me — on a two-lane road with a double-yellow line. Unfortunately, I'd let my insurance lapse, and when his insurance company found out they used it as leverage to not pay off. I spent several months getting in and out via the passenger door before I found another door on eBay, but the big-assed dent in the fender is still there. x(
