Why has Status Quo (the band) never been popular in the USA?
Status Quo, the British rock institution, has had over 60 chart hits in the UK, and sold 118 million albums worldwide. They seem to have been an enormous success everywhere but the USA. The question is: why?

(For those who have no idea who Status Quo are, they're the band that opened Live Aid at Wembley. Check YouTube, as I'm sure there's videos of their performance there. They also wrote and performed "Pictures Of Matchstick Men," which has been covered by both Camper Van Beethoven and Ozzy. Of course, that song was from their very early years, and is not reflective of the material that makes up the bulk of their career.)

In the 70's they were one of the first good rock bands to emerge after glam rock and before punk. They had some really good records and we saw them live one time in a small hall - loud and fast!

on edit - this is one of their slow songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxGqrEq002s

and a fast one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPRvrWjhzxA
