Just curious, what does (sic) mean?
I've seen it many times over the years, and I've always assumed it means something like "spelling incorrect" but have never been entirely sure.

1. When you're quoting someone
and they've misspelled, you add it to the misspelling.

6. It's when it isn't corrected
To say that it is being written as the original was written. It's probably a Latin term of some sort. Many of those types of things are.

if you're quoting from another source that misspelled a word, you add that to show that its misspelled in the quote, and not your mistake.

You are passing on a quote exactly as written, including any errors.

13. Latin for "thus" or "so"
Meaning that's how it was written in the original but it's wrong. :P

means "thus" in the sense that "thus I found the spelling in the original" used to signal that it wasn't your spelling or usage error.
