Karma's a bitch
Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 10:43 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB
I hope I'm not wishing any bad karma on myself, but I just have to tell this true story. Just found out this information tonight.

As some of you may know, in January, after working for a company for only 4 months, I was let go with no warning and for no reason (live in an at-will state; reason given was "not a good fit."). I had left a job I'd been at for seven years to go to a place that promised career growth, stability, etc. It's a long story, but I think what wound up happening was someone else in the dept. had been offered the position before I got there, declined and then changed her mind. I found out later that they wound up hiring someone pretty much straight out of college to replace me (someone with 14 years of experience in my field). The woman who fired me didn't even say goodbye to me, and I'd known her for at least 8 years prior to working for her.

I was out of work for 5 months (thank G-d for unemployment), and have been working since June for this cool company (renewable energy).

Anyway, I rarely watch the local news at 10 PM, but tonight, I decided to check it out.

The woman who fired me was being featured because some young kids broke into her house and stole all of her Christmas presents...$3,000 worth. When I was working there, I was not allowed to take off the day after T-giving, due to "seniority". I remember her telling me how she loves to get up really early the day after T-giving to go shopping.

Is it wrong for me to feel, how do I put this, somewhat snickery that this happened to her? She wasn't hurt, thankfully, but she really fucked me over big time.

That is SO the Universe's way of telling you that she WILL get to learn her life lesson.
EVERY thing happens for a reason.
Have a toast, then...

6. Have to agree with lildreamer.
Long story short, my boss was in deep doo-doo and she tried to blame all of her troubles and fired me. Of course I was not the problem and soon she was fired too. Anyway I got a dif job and her hubby ended up working for ME!!! Best revenge was treating the guy with class and respect.

Cheers!

9. Thanks... I'm a big sports fan and more than one person has
assumed that HuskerDU was for the state of Nebraska. So they rub in Nebraska's football trouble in to me! I'm like 'HuskerDU is for the band and not the state of Nebraska!' (my real team stinks worse than they do tho!!)

Glad somebody figured it right for once!

4. Yeah. See I'm a bit superstitious, and don't want to bring on
"the evil eye" (Jewish girl here).

17. Bush gloats. Reagan gloated. Do not join them.
Doing what they do makes us a little less us and a little more them, each and every time we do so.

5. I think I'd just say "What goes around comes around" and leave it like that.
And that's about it. A shame for her family though, don't wish her ill even though she's been a biatch to you. It's not wrong feeling that way. I worked on a MUD program once and wrote some code, stated I'm taking a three month holiday and found out two weeks in that someone had decided to re-write what I spent three months writing and working on. Hey he was a better coder than me and did it in about two weeks too but I got my revenge when I met up with him and snapped a picture of him drunk and out cold asleep. I left it like that, didn't really speak with the guy afterwards that much.

Mark.

7. My hubby said, "What comes around..." as well.
I really don't wish anyone evil or ill, even though this person in particular was a total biatch to me.

Even though it sucked going through what I went through with her, I'm so glad not to be working for her anymore.

11. There's a German word "schadenfreude" that explains it....
Wikipedia describes it perfectly...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude

Schadenfreude (IPA: <ˈʃaːdənˌfʁɔʏdə> Audio (German) (help·info)) is a German word meaning 'pleasure taken from someone else's misfortune'. It has been borrowed by the English language<1> and is sometimes also used as a loanword by other languages.

We've all done it at one time or another...

13. Feel as snickery as you want.
It sounds like she deserved it. It may not have been an accident that you happened to be there for the report of her demise. Maybe that was meant to be part of the "karmic bitch" of the whole thing.

16. I'd say.
My grandparents both passed away this year, and they knew about what happened to me.

One thing about my grandpa, especially: you did not f*ck with him.

My mom thinks perhaps he may have had something to do with me seeing the broadcast.

One never knows....
