I involuntarily helped a freeper make a complete ass out of himself!!!
Old (this happened last October) but I'm sure you'll like me sharing it with you.

I was browsing linuxtoday.com and read an article about SCO's insane antics against Free Software (calling it unconstitutional, un-American, etc). I posted this comment:
JCCyC - Subject: Anyone old enough to remember... ( Oct 28, 2003, 12:22:42 )

USA Govt. TV adverts of the McCarthy era, warning people against the evils of Communism? The announcer would begin by saying, "But isn't the Communist Party just another political party? NO! Communism is this, and this, and that, and..."
I imagine the same 50's B&W TV look and the guy saying, "But isn't the GPL just another software license? NO! The GPL is this, and this, and that, and..."
OK, I admit: I'm not old enough to remember, I saw that spot in a TV documentary about the blacklists.

Someone answered thus (quoting me in italics):

And you believe everything the documentary said, without checking independent sources?

You surely get the extreme d'oh-ness of this comment by now. I didn't even have to answer, two other people jumped in:

What part of "I saw that spot" didn't you understand? You think a documentary faked an old TV commercial?

and...
Peter Bradley - Subject: Re: Re: Anyone old enough to remember... ( Oct 28, 2003, 18:58:23 )

And you believe everything the documentary said, without checking independent sources?

I lived through that period: and he's right.

Peter

I wonder if any of those two is a DUer. :hi:
