does anybody but me hate that song about the christmas shoes?

the one about the little boy whose mother is going to see jesus and he hits
up the other christmas shopper for a pair of shoes for her? yeah, the kid's
mom is dying, so he goes out by himself to buy her some shoes? i would be more
concerned about the kid's being out alone, filthy dirty, etc. maybe jesus
likes good shoes, like condolieza.

talk about manipulative. sheesh

When I hear it I always ask myself this -- why is that kid out shopping for shoes instead of sitting with his mom in her final hours?

2. oooh, thank you - it's not just me

makes me feel so grinchy to feel that way about it.

they seemed to be trying to make it into a new christmas
classic on the radio this year. i had to hear it every
hour or so while at my sales job. literally ran to the
radio to change the station after awhile...

7. I thought it was mildly thought-provoking the first time I heard it....

Though in a VERY manipulative and sanctimonious way. It would have been fine if they had only played it a few times, but that year the radio stations were playing it at least every hour and I ultimately began to loathe that song with every fibre of my being.

At this point, I'm kind of surprised a parody hasn't surfaced....

then when you can't pay the bills when they come, you can
