A cinnamon stick and a vanilla bean make good additions. Vanilla beans are so expensive though.

2. Hot chocolate and coffee syrup
I make a cold pressed coffee syrup from coffee and chicory. I mix a 1/2 cup of it with whole milk and two squares of dark semi-sweet chocolate, it's a great hot drink with an interesting flavor and not too sweet. The 1/2 and 1/2 option is good as well.

Not in terms of being spicy or in an Emeril kind of way, but it seriously deepens the flavors of the chocolate and makes it feel "bigger"; plus the little bit of spiciness.

Quite amazing what a difference it makes.

I don't know it is with nestle et. al. instant hot chocolate yucko packet stuff, but if you're making your own with milk and chocolate that hasn't had the taste processed out of it (like hershey's or nestle's, etc.) and is made from the excellent beans (unlike hershey's or nestle's, etc.), the cayenne has something to work against.

that sounds really good. There are also a lot of high end chocolates that have chiles or cayenne in them. Almost bought one a while ago but chickened out.
