i rode the Wonkavator today

so, one of our jobs is the (20?) story dormitory being built for BU, and they have a pair of elevators to go up and down in. today was my first time on the site, and i got to ride the elevator for the first time. i was stunned during the first ride as we went to the 16th floor in roughly 8-10 seconds. :o

i thought we were gonna burst through the ceiling and fly over the Wonka Factory.

Sounds kinda scary.

it was more freaky than scary. i couldn't believe how fast that thing moves. and the operator screams past a floor he needs to stop on, hits the brakes, and puts in reverse to drop the few feet to line up with the floor.

about the fact that the last thing to go in a high rise building was the elevator. So they had to haul ductwork up all those flights of stairs everyday.
