I got sick of his blather and eventually turned to my mp3 player--Miles Davis makes a far better backing soundtrack than any commentator. Also, on the NBC HD feed, at least, Gumbel was either barely audible or far too loud, and the crowd was always louder than the commentators. Strange sound mixing.

I would also like to slide in here that "So What" is an amazing song to use as a football soundtrack--I had it going all through the first half of the fourth quarter. I keep forgetting what a completely versatile song that is; I've fallen asleep to it before, and yet today it had my blood pounding. Awesome.

:hi:

5. Here are variations on that trick:

And a hilarious Justin Timberlake/Star Wars sync -- especially at the 48-second mark with C3PO.

seems to be a nice guy
But I don't think he is talented, or has Charisma

Not like me

3. He seems to lack enthusiasm ... I don't think his heart is in it.
He was like an annoying mosquito!

A buzz in my ear I kept flicking away! :P

Here's another good football song... to get your blood up!

Queen - We Will Rock You

(I think it is actually the Patriots theme 'song'; voted by the fans)
They play it at the home games a lot!

;)

4. First NFL network game I have watched and Gumbel was the best I have ever heard

I remarked to my wife (and she agreed) that he was complete in the required information and didn't insult our intelligence which clearly distinguishes him from every other sports announcer.

6. and boring and that's not relished at a big game!
He need s to get his 'Rah Rah's' out there!

It's not all about HIM! (contrary to popular belief)

He was as unenthusiastic (wet noodle) on GMA and maybe

that's why he left there too?

He needs to stop 'trying' to be intelligent and just be human!

8. A team could make 1st down by 5 yards, and he would say
"It appears they have a 1st down". That bugs me.

Byrant Gumble is so annoying, his brother is much more pleasant.

(and "so what' describes my mood as my kid tells me yet a 1000th football statistic!

11. Bryant was extremely annoying, particularly his voice.
A friend who was over called it "a voice in need of testosterone." :D

12. Another vote FOR Bryant Gumbel here
though I prefer his brother and Phil Simms as my favorite broadcasting team. I think he does come across as a know-it-all sometimes and he may seem a little lifeless compared to others but he often makes some very astute comments that are exactly what I am thinking at the time. Maybe that makes me an asshole!
