1. I didn't think it was all that
but I'm pretty hard to impress. it might be worth it just to see the Frank Lloyd Wright building in it. if you like architecture, that is.

2. yup! :D
I got a new 4-disc copy tonight and I'm mailing my old one to my best friend, it's one of Those movies I think we should own, like to keep.
It's been a long time since I watched it but as old as it is it still holds up, I'm gonna watch my new copies next week.

Turning it up or having it on surround sound would make a difference in watching for the first time maybe.. definitely in the dark when it's quiet. ( but I'm kinda crazy about it  )

4. I see Amelie is your avatar.
Judging by that, I would say, yes, by all means. It is not for everybody, but it is just stunning, and has a good storyline.

5. yes, it's the basis for so much film stuff that you see now -
based on a classic sci-fi tale. It's a wonderful, beautiful film - I've seen it many,many times.

It also fits with a lot of cyber punk stuff to come.... if you like William Gibson, this stuff was the precursor.

6. Yes, you should
It is my favorite movie of all time, and one I can honestly say profoundly changed the way I look at life.

BTW, the "Final Cut" was recently released on DVD, and that is the one most fans are recommending.

7. See it, and ignore anything that Ridley Scott has to say about it
The doofus clearly hasn't viewed his own film.

20. No kidding
He obviously hasn't read the book it was based on, either. Or if he did, he's forgotten all about it.

It's a tremendous film despite Ridley's rantings of late.

9. Yes. And Harrison Ford's wooden acting actually works in this film....
...because it helps to set a melancholy tone. It's a great movie. Check it out.

12. I know that this is heretical, but I would recommend the original release...
the narration is appropriate considering the work's pulpy origins

24. Follow-up question... how the hell do you find the original version these days? :)
All I've been able to find is the director's cut.

19. Well *I* think probably the first directors cut....

... although it might be a little unintelligible.

The narration in the first one helps the plot (a bit), but if you're willing to pay attention, I don't think you'll have too much difficulty understanding the DC. It was way too rich and subtle for 1984 audiences, these days I think it would work...

16. Get it, for the music and the atmosphere ....
I think its the archetypal style over substance work of cinematic art , at least in my opinion. Too bad.

18. I have the DVD; avoid the one with Ford's narration.
That was the original; though I feel this is one film that has to be seen in a THEATER.
