And I'm getting quite depressed. I injured my shoulder a couple of weeks ago up in Santa Cruz on the first wave of a session. Since then I can't even pull on a shirt without a great deal of pain. At first I figured that if I take it easy I will heal up, but the pain seems to be getting worse, and my range of motion also seems to be decreasing. I made a doctors appointment at the V.A. on the 16th, but the pain was enough that I went in to the emergency room there last week.
I did not see a doctor, and the N.P. did not even do a hands on examination. She did have x-rays done and relayed through a clerk that they were "negative". I asked the clerk, negative for what, and he of course did not know. I had been there most of the day without eating anything so I could get my bi-annual cholesterol/blood work out of the way. Usually I'm a total dick if I haven't eaten but I just gave up and went home without much of my usual proactive participation in my own health care. She had suggested a couple of exercises and gave my a script for 800mg moltrin, and I've been doing them.
I have not been able to surf, and for some reason that makes me want to surf even more. I am also wondering if this will be the end of surfing and kayaking for me. In the grand scheme of things this is a blessing as a problem, but still has me pretty bummed. Anybody have a rotor cuff injury? What happened? Were you able to resume previous activities? What was the time frame?
