3. No chance in Iowa or New Hampshire for kudzu
Kudzu has no chance in the early plant competitions in Iowa and New Hampshire due to inhospitable climates.

However, if it makes a strong showing in warmer South Carolina later this month, it may yet prevail over its competitors for "official perniciously invasive plant species."

The Algerian ivy promises to put up a strong fight. Its cold and shade tolerance may prove more important than kudzu's rapid growth.
