We went to Trader Joe's tonight, and fully HALF the customers were lesbians
Including us. AND WE LIVE IN A RED COUNTY.

I figured the Unitarian Church was having a GLBT potluck.... and Haruka thought maybe the Indigo Girls were playing in town. We were just doing our grocery shopping.

39. I dated a woman last spring who was quite into Whole Foods
but wouldn't join our neighborhood co-op. Whole Foods always made me feel a little creepy at times, even if the food bar was better than the co-op. But still I'd rather spend the money at the co-op, as I'm a member and have a little say in the operation at the end of the year. Plus the staff is friendlier too, and it's a closer walk. :D

You guys have a few good local chains down there that are better. And there used to be Wild Oats, before The Health Food Store That Ate Tokyo swallowed them up too.

Smart and Final. Ferreal.

I bet they'll sell though, they don't seem to have the slightest idea of what to do with the place. But Wild Oats had to sell them for the Whole Foods buyout, I'm guessing to keep the anti-trust concerns to a minimum.

42. No worries
I just realized I haven't hung out with any gay friends in several years, and haven't had a gay roommate now in almost 20 years. I guess just because all my friends have grown up and married and coupled off, and since I got divorced a couple years ago I haven't made a whole lot of new single friends to pal around with.

Oh well, I've still got a good decade in me. :D

way back when I lived in Austin, I was the boss of some computer operators. When I was short of employees one night, I just walked down the street to a lesbian bar, told the door person I needed to talk to Carla on the dance floor - went in and hauled her off to make her go to work. Her gal friends laughed their asses off. I told Carla, well, your mistake was telling me where you'd be Saturday night....she wailed that HER mistake was thinking it was cool, telling her boss she'd be in a lesbian bar :D

72. Kaia Wilson has been spotted at TJ's.
That's why most people I know go to TJ's.

75. I hope no one told Bill O'Reilly
He'd probably go on the air to mention how polite and reasonable everyone was.

And I'd be the crazy straight lady yelling "Yo! Where'd ya keep the mo-fo iced tea! This better be fair trade and organic!"

77. They were OUT of the Iced Tea
We normally get a gallon of their unsweetened Ice Tea every week. Tonight, the shelf was bare.

I blame the lesbians.

87. I went to the TJ in Sunnyvale, CA this afternoon...
...and it was apparently "Hopeless Dweeb Discount Day."

Not sure about the sexual orientation of any of the people in the store...but they were like the mall zombies in "Dawn Of The Dead" who were attempting to re-acquaint themselves with modern conveniences like shopping carts and such. It was literally a room full of stumblef**ks. There'd be a shopping cart on one side of the aisle and a shopping cart on the other and all of a sudden someone would wheel THEIR card down the middle, completely blocking the aisle, and stand there like a deer in the headlights when they realized that pepole wanted to get around them. This happened three times with three different people over the course of five minutes.

I keep hearing these stories over and over again about the "hot" denizens of TJ, be it the people who work there or the customers, and I just don't get it. I've also been to the one off of Almaden in San Jose. If "unattractive" and "clueless" is an aphrodisiac, then I guess it's a regular hormone factory. But I'd need at least a couple of bottles of Two Buck Chuck to consider even a sideways glance at most of the regulars.

I guess the "magic" that TJ is known for across the U.S. just doesn't carry over into California.

:silly:

95. I love Trader Joes and the Indigo Girls
...and I'm not even a Lesbian!

Damn, it's been too long since I've been to Joe's. Nearest one is about 35 miles away, and with gas prices as ridiculous as they are, I can't make that trip as often as I used to :evilfrown:

When I was there though, there did seem to be quite a few female couples present, so it must be part of the International Lesbian Conspiracy, or whatever. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Especially if it has anything to do with building more Trader Joes.

Maybe it would help if they knew we have Lesbians in Olympia too?
