3.Must leave my home due to the fact I can't pay rent due to vet bill.

They wanted 80% up front. We even had to ask my Dad and Sister for more. We stilled had to pay the rest to get the body out for burial.

If so ... you may not have to leave. You've got TIME you know. She can't just tell you to move out immediately because your rent is late, AND, if she really wants to evict you and you aren't agreeable about moving she'll have to take you to court - a move that will also buy you more time. Depending on the rest of your rental history you may be able to fight this - a first offense and an emergency that caused it? You may have some recourse.

plus, the landlord has to go through a very tedious and expensive process to get an eviction. Landlords hate to do it because it usually costs them more $$$ than if they had worked out payment plan with the tenant.

EDITED: I would get in touch with a local tenants union or legal aid association-- they may be able to help you get through this.

know your rights and don't let them abuse yours.

and all she has to do is not give us the key. That means we have to keep our door unlock giving here the ability to move us out while we are out at work. This is all legal to do here, I checked.

your apartment until you have the papers on your door from the court. she cannot just make you leave. she needs to file a complaint with the court, it can take up to 30 days just to get a court date, then you have until the court date to get the money. even if you don't have it that day there should be at least 3 more days until you are physically evicted and have to leave. call the the "Special Civil Part" of your state, they can help you and tell you your rights.

It's only the freaking 8th! It's not like you are weeks behind, right? Just for January? Just make sure you look into all your rights. A landlord cannot evict a tenant themselves. It's illegal, and now these days they can be fined for it.

Blame is a useless and futile reaction to difficulties. But I get where you're coming from. Responsibility is a separate question altogether.

We live in a man-made world where we have to constantly stress about our own existence (one way or another). Humankind can be at once entirely benevolent and an impossible task master.

Life can be kinda' like being drafted into military service. When it really sucks, we endure it because we won't let the assholes win; and because, if we give up, this will only make it easier for our loved ones to go into the crapper too.
