What is it with vampires and black convertibles?
I've only really watched three vampire shows on a consistent basis: Forever Knight, Angel, and Moonlight, but ALL THREE have an older, late 50s to early 60s type black convertible car.

Is it some sort of running joke?

1. Perhaps not an intentional joke...
...but a joke nonetheless. Vampires in fiction are being similarly type-cast these days, and eye-rolling is a necessary self-defense mechanism.

As sexual symbols, vamps have to drive muscle cars of some sort. The further equation of money with power demands a convertible and a classic, symbolic of the idle rich. Black is a given for a vampire setting, but also has to do with power, being mysterious and giving nothing away.

So snicker away as the vamps swish by in their identical black dusters and wraparound shades. They're rebels, you see.

5. For what it's worth...
I don't think Barnabas Collins drove a convertible (or any type of car for that matter).

6. People who live for hundreds of years would naturally have a collection
of classic cars. And you know they have to be garage stored. So, a nice classic convertible would make more sense than a Model T, and how many car dealers these days take cash?

:D

9. The moon and night air on a warm summer night are what they're after.
