I have had the Wellstone bus, since I joined. I forget what my first avvie was, but I changed to Kirby when he passed.

8. Wellstone was beloved across the country, but having a Kirby av almost guarantees
a MN person. I was a HUGE Kirby fan; I've got autographed balls, cards, etc, AND an authentic autographed jersey I won at the game when they retired his number. It's a great story.

Funny thing is, I remember when he was first called up. A close friend of mine said "watch this guy, he's going to be a star!". I said "Naaah!" Boy, was I ever wrrrrrrrrr! :D

9. God he was fun to watch play!

I guess I get to see a lot more of Torii Hunter now that he is with the Angels, and the Angels home field is 10 miles from where I live now.

I still am sad that he is no longer a Twin.

10. Kirby played the game the way it was meant to be played
There was NEVER a finer baseball player ever. He was the complete package-- talent, stats, attitude, personality.

But I have to say that if there was ever a valiant effort to fill Kirby's shoes, it is being put forth by Torii. He is an amazing player/person in his own right. The Twins will miss him more than they realize. Reminds me of when we traded Carew to the Angels-- I'm STILL bitter about that! :-)

14. Yeah, it was a shame that owning the Twins was his livelihood, not his hobby
Which is why I begrudge the billionaire Pohlad family for not opening the purse strings a little more. Sheesh.

15. Yeah, Pohlad is a far more wealthy man than freakin Steinbrenner
And especially since Eloise passed away, he has been even less likely to do what is best for the team. (Eloise LOVED the Twins.)

16. Yeah, and how the hell did he outlive her???? He looked grim 10 years ago.
One wonders how differently things would have turned out had their fates been reversed.

17. He really has been dead for 10 years. He just does not want to give up his money
to his heirs!
