Hey Loungers... what's for dinner?
Currently, the intoxicating aroma of italian sausages simmering with tomatoes and peppers is wafting down the hallway to my comp desk. Later (maybe an hour from now) those delectable things will be nestled into soft coney rolls, and smothered in a shredded 6-cheese blend.

What's on YOUR menu?

1. What a coincidence...
I made a homemade sauce with peppers, onions and Italian sausages the other night and I am going to nuke the one remaining sausage & sauce for an Italian Sausage Sandwich.

No 6-cheese blend, though, just the sausage & sauce on a roll with freshly grated Parmesan.

:toast:

6. The sauce and peppers are not homemade... but they ARE
from a locally-owned company.

Bonus: The company's ownership are a family of generations-back Dems, several of whom either have served or are currently serving in legislative bodies here! :-)

Um num num... my mouth is watering now... gotta give things a stir!

18. I'm not a vegetarian
But my ex-husband is. I got hooked on the black bean burgers when I was married. The grillers aren't too shabby either. My local grocery had a half-priced sale on Morningstar, so I stocked up. My freezer now looks like a vegetarian feast.

11. Venison burger? Interesting...
My experience with venison is limited... have had it maybe 3 times in my life, and it was always the tenderloin-- butterflied, lightly floured and fried.

It was delicious, and if i have the opportunity to experiment with it in the kitchen, i look forward to it.

17. If you come in to DC you can buy it at the Eastern Market
That's where this came from. I would expect that in Morgantown it wouldn't be too hard to get some from a neighbor.

23. I made the mistake of buying a chub of "Shady Brook Farms" Italian turkey sausage...
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 02:33 AM by Indi Guy
The Kroger cold beets in a can were far superior to my main course.

Do not ever bye the overly salted Shady Brook Farms turkey sausage. I actually soaked this shit in fresh water in order to leach out the salt. It worked!

Then I was left with a fair amount of indigestible bone & grizzle.

I guess we get what we pay for.
