Anybody got the new Avenged Sevenfold CD?
And am I the only person over 30 who likes them?

I really like the City of Evil disc. Heavy and thrashy aside from "Seize the Day" which I thought was a shameless plea for air time. They got it with that song, but I thought it was the worse song on the album.

So I bought the new disc and I like "Almost Easy" which is getting a lot of air time right now. But the album is not as heavy as their previous efforts and I was hoping for something more on the metal side. Horns are featured on one track and a steel guitar on another. Those guys are at their best when they are thrashing and belting out lightening quick guitar solos and drum beats, but they seem to have put it all on the shelf in favor of a more tame sound that they hope will net them platinum status. Well, it ain't going to happen with this album either. They have a big record deal. I think they should just shred and let the cards fall where they may. What do you think?

I know at least one of you old motherfuckers has heard of Avenged Sevenfold. Time to step out of the closet.

2. I'm fond of some of the songs on "City of Evil."
"Beast and The Harlot" + "Bat Country" (which has what may be the coolest music video in years.) Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to hear much more of their stuff.

3. "Beast and the Harlot" is rockin
Now that I've listened to the new disc a few times since the OP I think I would recommend it. But it is nowhere near as hard as City of Evil. In other words, you mileage may vary. Thanks for checking in. Always good to see a fellow fan.
