Colts fans boo 14 y/o
This past weekend, the NFL honored the winners of its 2007 Pass, Punt & Kick Competition during halftime of the Colts-Chargers game in Indianapolis.

One of the winners was 14 year old Anna Grant of Stratham, New Hampshire. Like pretty much everyone in NH, Anna is a New England Patriots fan. Since the PP&K tradition is to have the kids wear the jersey of their favorite team, Anna ventured into the RCA Dome wearing the Flying Elvis on her shoulders.

The crowd booed her.

A 14 year old kid.

Now, if this were in, say, Oakland, New York, or Philadelphia, it wouldn't bug me so much. Fans in those cities are, always have been, and always will be meatheads. hell, you can probably throw Boston/Foxboro on the list. We are what we are. But Indianapolis is one of those franchises that constantly has to remind everyone about how "classy" they are. Peyton Manning, Tony Dungy, aka St. Anthony of Indianapolis, and the batshit nuts team president always yammer about how they are a "classy" team with "classy" fans. Frauds.

Stay classy, Indy.

1. NFL fans are NFL fans.
Anyone who thought someone in a Pats shirt wasn't gonna get booed in Indy hasn't been paying attention for the past ten years.

17. We never would have done that to a kid here in Foxboro-
Shit, anyone who booed a kid here would probably get their asses kicked in the stands.

for every poor sport there's a dozen who are not poor sports.

I can't be bothered to waste my energy on the fans. I want to enjoy the game.

On edit: besides... it's not as though they had anything to cheer about by the time the game was over. lol

3. It was pitiful, but I think the teen expected it
She had a little smile on her face. She was old enough to expect it. I think if it was an 8 or 9 year old it would have been even worse.

9. Stay classy, Indy
they must take their cue from the head coach and Lead Bigot-In-Charge, Tony Dungy:

Time for Dungy to end his silence on gays

Tony Dungy has every right to speak at a dinner of the Indiana Family Institute, which opposes gay rights. But he needs to be accountable for whether he shares the group's political goals.

Dungy, head coach of the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts, has raised eyebrows by being the honored guest at the IFI's $75-a-plate "Friends of the Family" benefit on March 20. The event is expected to draw 700 people and raise $50,000, the Indianapolis Star reported. Dungy gives the dinner real star power since no previous event has drawn more than 440 people, the Star said.

IFI is a political advocacy group with a very clear agenda, summed up on its website: "Throughout its 16-year history, the Indiana Family Institute has sought to bring Biblical values and Biblical ethics to the public policy making process in Indiana. To this end, we have opposed all efforts to create or advance special civil or legal rights for homosexuals."

13. Colts classiness: a photographic essay
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 01:17 PM by KamaAina

K-A
born: Baltimore, MD, 1964 :grr:

edit: one of these fine days we will have the accompanying audio essay, consisting of the faux crowd noise they pump into the Mayflower RCA Dome, but no one's been able to nail them for it as yet. In the words of the immortal Jackie Gleason, "Now, that's class!" :sarcasm:

15. They were booing the jersey. The girl laughed.
I saw it, I thought it was funny. Heck, she knew it was enemy territory. She's a female football player! She must have some level of toughness! Plus, she who laughs last.......

18. When I was 16, some Giants fans threw ice at me at Candlestick Park
because I was wearing my Dodgers jacket.

Y'gotta expect stuff like that if you're flying enemy colors.

"My parents said to expect it, so I just laughed it off, but it was definitely obvious they were booing," Anna told the New Hampshire Union Leader last night.
