...Gawd she was hot- or so I thought back then. She was also the first girl I ever French kissed. We broke up shortly after that. She said I the worst kisser she's ever had. It never dawned on me to ask how many points of reference she could possibly have at the young age of 12.

We were engaged in kindergarten.

One day, Mrs. Cowles came after us, blowing her whistle. We were on our way to Vickie's house to tell her dad we were getting married, and we went past the Magic Fence. :)

8. My sister was in the Girl Scouts and my mom was a troop leader.
Every year they had a Jamboree out in this big place in the country. Almost every Girl Scout/Brownie in the county was there for a weekend getaway. A girl in my class (I was in the third grade) was in attendance. While someone was giving a speech we hid in a closet. It was dark and she gave me a peck on the cheek. It was very sweet. And when we got back to school she wouldn't talk to me.

Her name is Christie, and I actually did a contracting job with her in 2001 but I never mentioned it.

First grade. When he kissed me on the cheek I did what I had learned from the movies and I slapped his face. I often wonder if that would happen today which of us would be expelled from school first.

20. My first love's name was...
Sandra Hicks.

We had a tempestuous love-hate relationship that was more love than hate, fortunately. We'd go over to her house after school and play checkers (she cheated) and try to dodge her bratty little brother. One day I made fun of her braces in front of the other students at lunch, and she rushed home in tears. Her dad called my dad, and I ended up apologizing over the phone to her. She accepted, and when I moved away at the end of our third school year together, we parted as friends.

I still miss her, and it's been nearly thirty years...

22. I don't remember his name...
Some kid I thought was cute in kindergarten because he had a bowl haircut like Davy Jones.

The first kid who may have liked me back, in fifth grade (I spent the majority of grammar school fat--back when NO kids were fat--but started to drop the weight in fifth grade) was Brett. I used to be thrilled when he asked me to skate during the rollerskating parties we had in the gym (fifth and sixth graders ONLY---we were SO important). His hand was calloused and clammy, I recall.

I believe he became a drug-addled gay (or bi) rocker of minor fame.

24. Tarleton Morgan
Eustis Park Elementary School
Aiken, SC

Could there be a more British Colonial name in the South than Tarleton? He was a cute dark haired guy and we sang Let Me Call You Sweetheart together in the Valentine Day program in front of the entire school and parents. I wore a red skirt with white hearts on it and he wore white slacks and a red shirt with a white heart over his heart. Can you tell this was in the 50's? Doubt that would happen today.

Later, Mike McDonald...a cute blond that I used to pick blackberries with in the summer.

Those were the days....

At our class reunion, he brought his (2nd) wife who was a statuesque blond with fake boobs and a lot of tatoos. He sort of reminded me of Anthony Bourdain.....

I met him in 3rd grade.

It wasn't until 6th grade when he made his move: he gave me a bracelet and a hat from Great America amusement park on the last day of 6th grade. :loveya:

But it wasn't in the cards. I moved to Ohio shortly after that.

Too bad cuz I remember him as a cute, shy kid. Wish I had the opportunity to know him better.
