If DU were around in 1980 when liberal Ted Kennedy challenged incumbent moderate Jimmy Carter, what would have happened in GDP? I think if it's heated today, it might have been radioactive in 1980.

And, then when Reagan won the election? Would GDP have completely melted down?

2. I'm too young to remember them
but, I do remember a lot of bitter folks in 1980 - I was almost 14 in November 1980.

Reagan won most of the northeast back then, if I recall.

3. Never mind that

Imagine 1968 on DU -the fights between the Johnson, McCarthy and Kennedy supporters. Johnson's withdrawal from the presidency, MLK's assassination and its aftermath, RFK's assassination and its aftermath, the violent demonstrations at the Democratic Convention, George Wallace's candidacy and finally Nixon's election

Makes 1980 seem tame in comparison

5. Maybe 1968 would have been much "tamer" ...
...if people had been sitting in front of their computers discussing and staging cyber-protests instead of being out in the streets?
