My roomate's hair dryer caught fire
In her hand! I just heard this screaming and was like, "What the fuck?!" And she was all shaken and the dryer was in the sink, unplugged.

Crazy...

1. When I was in college, I worked in a factory packaging
ConAir hair dryers. My job was to take the finished product, turn it on, pound it on a rubber mat, (not too hard) and if it didn't catch fire after five pounds, send it down the line to be shipped. :wow:

Talk about horrific quality control. What if the thing was destined to catch fire at six pounds?

3. No kidding.
Never purchased one of those things and never intend to. My girls use one, but I get a new one for them every six months or so. They scare the crap out of me.

4. i got electrocuted pretty bad by a hairdryer at my friends house a few months ago
i was drying my hair because we were about to leave and it was soaking wet. it was an older hair dryer and where the cord went into the dryer some wires were exposed a bit that i didn't notice. all of the sudden i felt an indescribable feeling and screamed. what sucked was that i couldn't put the damn thing down for a few seconds because it was like i lost all control.

it was funny as hell afterwards and i sort of wish i had video of it because it would be hilarious but it hurt like hell.

5. I'm scared of that
That very thing :( my hairdryer gets so hot, I worry about using it when I'm home alone. I mean I'll worry more now.

8. I had the cord short circuit right next to my ear with a spark
with one way back in college. Nice loud pop and kiss that hair dryer goodbye. Have not had that happen since.
