15. yes, was just going to say this.
Homemade crust (or frozen croissant crust) plus veggies and whatever meat you'd like to add (cooked before added to the pie to bake, though - I used to brown ground turkey) and a little freshly grated cheese = good stuff. Really.

8. I think they're one of those things...
...that are either burned into your psyche in childhood or not. If you're brought up on the things, they're loaded with memories and associations. If not, they're just abboitoir sweepings in a crust. I occasionally have a hankering for one, but I know that if I give in, I'll really regret it.

11. they were burned into my psyche as a child -
as a disgusting food that I never want to eat. My mom eats these crappy frozen pot pies all the time, and I would seriously never touch one - I'd rather go 2 days without eating before having one of those pot pies.... on day 3 I might consider a bite. My mother who won't eat a store-bought desert pie (even makes her own crusts and pie fillings) eats $1 chicken pot pies from the freezer.... ewww... it really is like gives-me-the-shivers creepy.

17. Pepperidge Farm pot pies are good too.
And they have different flavors like chicken w/parmesan and roasted turkey. And they are pretty cheap at Costco.

14. We had them from time to time growing up
because they cost 31 cents each and my father was a teacher; budgeting was necessary.

We did not microwave them, though. The microwave ones are AWFUL.

I, too, make my own now - especially with Thanksgiving leftovers. YUM.

19. I;ve made them myself: chicken and mushrooms
in tarragon sauce... they are GOOD! When I lived in New Zealand and watched rugby, I'd buy the hand-held equivalent, "meat pies," and they were also fan-freaking-tastic.

20. They are disgusting, but they were survival food in college
along with Kraft mac & cheese and ramen noodles. Back in those days (late '60s) pot pies were really cheap, like about a quarter apiece.

That must be the ad v\for pea pot pies. Or are they olives? Actually, I, too, make my own chicken pies, so I know what I am eating.
