Candidate's photo puts his head on skinnier body

From CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/19/doctored.photo.ap/index.html

Is this really a big enough faux-pas to be on CNN? What do you think?

I think it's a little embarrassing, but not really NEWS.

1. I need to have my eyes examined.
Initially, I read that as "Candidate's photo puts his head on Skinner's body".

:o

6. I thought that too
I wondered, who would know it's Skinner's body?

11. I know it's hard to comprehend

I think they probably printed out the photos, got out the trusty pair of scissors and glue stick, and then scanned it back in...

4. Apparently, CNN thinks this is a slow news day.
To mention something ridiculously trivial like this.

10. Well, this *is* Tom DeLay's stompin' grounds
Stuff like this raises a much bigger issue, though, to wit: When digital image manipulation is so easy, how common is it, to what extent has it been done (i.e. making it look like Jane Fonda was sitting next to John Kerry) and who has used it?

12. Absolutely -- really good points

I'm sure it's quite common, and to most people it can be really hard to tell when a photo has been manipulated!

14. It's not a faux pas.
It's a lie that demeans not only the candidate and the staffers who lie about the lie, but also demeans anyone who doesn't have a photogenic body.

15. His campaign manager admitted to it

From the article:
"He may appreciate that we took a few pounds off him," Broschart said. "I think the voters ... are more concerned with the issues as opposed to pretty photo shoots."

Now that's probably BS, because he HAD to have a full-body shot at some point! But i don't think it's demeaning to anyone except for the candidate, maybe.
