I'm going to adopt this PISSEDoff Cocker Spaniel - if available
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 10:25 PM by UTUSN
I don't blame her for being PISSED OFF. I-the-Hades-do-NOT want to be in a cage. Now the next step is for my tiny dog AND the old (15 yrs)-who-doesn't-want-to-die to accept her. It looks like she's MEAN, like why would she be in a shelter?! I'm GOING for it!1 Tomorrow morning!1

1. That dog looks just like mine
If you can get her, take her for a walk before she sets foot in your house--so says the Dog Whisperer. And when you bring her in make sure she does not go inside ahead of you. Good luck!

8. Glad SOMEBODY likes cocker spaniels...
...every cocker spaniel I've met has been neurotic to the point of submissive peeing if you even LOOK at them or dumber than a rock.

and I can tell you she (the dog, not my mom...lol) is dumber than a rock but she is the sweetest dog I've ever met despite the fact that she (the dog again...lol) pees a bit when she get over excited.

12. Mine was the best dog ever.
She was friendly, patient with small children, even when she got older. My nieces came along when she was 11, and they could lay on her, pull her ears, do just about anything to her. She never once snapped at them or growled.

She was smart. She loved to shake you hand and she said grace before meals, she could roll over, and jump through a hoop. Plus if you aksed her if she could say WAA, and she would through her head back and Howl. She was the Wookilar hunter of the house. Kate was a good dog and I still miss her to this day.

14. Outcome, the NEXT day ---------- AND a defense of Cockers!1
That picture was in Sunday's newspaper. I called Monday morning and she was taken. I'm glad that somebody wanted her that much. And, as I posted in another thread a few days ago, I really am struggling with the question of whether to take on another dog, who might live 15 years, at my own age. I have two, a 15 yr old who is still spry while he *does* take meds, and the little 3 yr old shown (at an earlier age) in a post above.

My problem is that I just love 'em and just ache to take them, although I've managed to resist so far.

That said, some posters have said that Cockers are dumb as a rock and that they are neurotic and do nervous peeing. I had two, the first when I was 5 and who lived to be 13, and who was the sweetest, most noble thing. True, I don't remember "tricks" as such, but she just loved us family and WAS family. My second was when I was 24, and that dude *was* very intelligent and intuitive. He loved the tennis ball. And actually, I myself had not realized the depth of breed characteristics, that spaniels are literally water dogs and retrievers, and it wasn't until a few years on that we happened upon a large pond in a park and the ball bounced into it and Hotspur (named for Prince Hal) totally LEPT into the water without the slightest hesitation. After that I threw the ball way OUT into the water and he just loved it. When he lost track of it out there, I would point and he instantly followed my direction to it.

He stayed mostly with my old parents when I was away working, and once when my holiday was over, he KNEW I was leaving and he literally threw himself on the floor and sobbed.

Please do not say Cockers are dumb. I never associated mine with neurosis or nervous peeing---so THERE!1

15. I bet her mood will change when you pick her up...
She looks like she just needs love and companionship. I bet you and your other dog will fill the need perfectly!
