How do you reply to emails that weren't meant for you?
I've been getting quite a few of them recently. Apparently, there's somebody out there who has the same name as me. Judging from the emails that I received, he seems like a nice guy. I think that he & I are probably related on my dad's side of the family, since I don't have a very common name (ie. "Jeff Jones", "Mark Taylor", etc....)

I normally ignore it, but today I decided to reply. Transcript follows:

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Hey (Blue-Jay),
Fun playing with you today! I got your email address from somebody-redacted's email.
My cell # is xxx-xxx-xxxx. Limit text messages to one per week until I change plans!
-Julie"

So I replied...

"Julie - I'm sure that you had a riotous time playing something with
somebody-redacted, but I assure you that it wasn't me. There's a good chance that
somebody-redacted (whoever that is) has provided you with an incorrect email address
for your mutual friend. Either that, or I got drunk and played some kind
of game with some folks who I don't remember meeting. (unlikely)

Regardless, you both sound like wonderful, fun people. During your next
game, you can have a laugh about the (Blue-Jay) that you both almost knew.
That would truly warm my heart.

signed,

Some "Other" (Blue-Jay) (not the (Blue-Jay)) you were expecting, but a nice (Blue-Jay)
nevertheless)".

1. Happens to me alot acutally
With the e-mail, at my work there is someone with the SAME NAME as me. I get their phone calls sometimes too. I just politely point out that they sent it to the wrong address. Of course I think that person (whose e-mail address is what most people would think is mine) probably gets more of MY e-mail than vice versa.

5. We can salvage this scenario with The Power Of Imagination...
Everybody knows a smoking-hot chick named Julie, right?

Pretend it was HER.
