Well, I am officially out of heating oil.
Bring on the space heaters and turn on the stove...it's gonna be in the teens tommorrow night I think.
Brrrrrrrrr.

Hopefully this weekend. About $360.
I will be careful, I promise.

4. NC Heating Oil Assistance
Thursday, January 17, 2008 4:52 PM CST

http://www.bladenjournal.com/articles/2008/01/17/news/local_news/doc478fd54077747053359949.txt

HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt recently announced the release of $2,840,718, which includes $50,520 for
tribes, to help eligible low-income homeowners and renters in North Carolina meet home energy costs.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds will provide states, territories, tribal
areas and the District of Columbia with heating assistance for the winter months ahead.

“Shelter is a basic human need,” Secretary Leavitt said. “These funds will enable North Carolina
residents to make sure no one is left out in the cold.”

LIHEAP helps eligible families pay for home cooling, heating and insulation in summer and winter months.
Every year, more than five million low-income households across the country receive assistance under LIHEAP.

Individuals interested in applying for energy assistance should contact their local/state LIHEAP agency.

For more information, go to http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/liheap/ or http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ liheap/brochure.html.

6. I hate to say but..
yes, it works if you go NOW. They get so much a season to cover poor folks, so the sooner you go "beg" the quicker you get warm. Careful thinkin you can use electric and such. Thats one bill you dont want to be $200 higher than normal.

7. That's SOP! The early bird always gets the worm!
It just was released, the $$, 4 days ago.

Maybe there's still some $$ assistance left.

I wouldn't call it begging at all. I call it survival.

Isn't NC a 'commonwealth' state?

If not, that's really sad. :(

9. Fuck that shit.
Come live with me. I'm keeping the thermostat at 55 but I think I can sustain it, at least until the house is sold back to the bank. I have seven bedrooms and you are welcome to the back wing.

It surely sucks, doesn't it? You aren't alone. -Lisa

15. You compelled me to reread my post!
It reminds me when I got my first job in the U.S. at Berklee College of Music. I'd been there only a few days when the only coworker sharing the office asked me if I used "big word to impress people." Uh... no. I'm just Canadian-born. We can't help ourselves.

only because I don't understand what you meant. However I'm a braver woman than that. :)

the addition of diagrams. The hooks and snags at my end - you would have an interesting time w/absorption. I do appreciate the thought however.

Thanks Lisa, for the offer and the sympathy.
He gets paid Friday, so we can probably get some then. Cross your fingers for us until then.
Son's room in the back is very well insulated and stays really warm with the space heater we have back there. I have the less effective one out here in the LR, but I have the stove and the dryer, so I'm going to run them.

40. when we lived in a shack at the foot of Mount Rose, I remember one winter
where my mom had an electric blanket attached to an extension cord she had wrapped around her and drug everywhere.

like at your house my room stayed very warm in the back, but the house was frigid.

stay warm

What time is it over there? R, you won't be so proud of me tonight; I caved. Why I confess this at 3:14 a.m. to a man who no doubt has reservations... I know not. But please, do notice the careful spelling and tight sentence structure.
