I've been Television-free for about 4 days now. It still feels kind of strange, I don't really know what to think of it yet.
Anybody else out there TV-Free?

6. That's funny, I know him!
I miss Comedy Central and endless reruns of Futurama and Family Guy, but I have a shitload of DVDs and a Netflix subscription. I also have my internet connection to keep me up on news. I guess I'll be OK.

5. Been TV free ever since I moved here...
beginning of November. Since the only show I watched before was Heroes and they let you watch that on the NBC website, I don't miss it. :)

7. For the most part.
We have a TV but no cable. I don't watch it unless there's a really good documentary on PBS. Even if there is, the TV is in the bedroom and when I go up to watch it, I'm out like a light in half an hour, tops!

11. I just made my appointment to have the cable turned off
My roommate and I hardly ever watch it. I spend more time in pool than in front of the TV. I finally figured why bother having it at all?

I've been cable-free for a while. I get all TV either via Internet or as DVD boxed sets.

It's been about 3 years. It's weird at first, definitely. It's also annoying not being able to watch TV shows that everyone's talking about. Although you can buy the episodes online at places like Amazon Unbox, I prefer to have the "hard copy" of something I pay to "own."

It's liberating and the extra money is nice, too.

14. I've gone back and forth through the years
I get hooked on a couple of stations, realize I'm paying through the nose for basically nothing, get rid of the cable/satellite, then start the cycle all over again.

I'm pathetic.

18. I'm so sorry.
I hope this is only a short term set back, and you'll be back to TV watching real soon - maybe with cable and everything, but that doesn't matter. TV is what's important - not the programming. I know it's tough now, but this too will pass, and you'll find another TV to love.... in time.

to appear like pod people to you because they are so influenced by MSM and you no longer will be. It's eerie at first, but you get used to it and you begin to learn to live again. It's nice after a while. Serene. Peaceful. You even begin to read again. You love every minute of it too.

23. I went 4 years without it. Just tuned back in this May....
I don't know...trying to cut down on my computer addiction...working to some degree. If I cut it back off at this time, I don't think that would be a good idea.

24. Welcome to the club.
It's been perhaps 3 years since I unplugged my set.

Of course, I DO occasionally download a program if it really interests me, but there is now no more phony news, no more forced comedy, no more canned laughter, and no more overbearing drama unnoticed in the background of the evening. At this moment I'm sitting in blessed silence, with a kitty asleep at my side. Ya just can't beat it.

Now I have a roommate who lives in front of the TV, so we have cable again and it's always on. x(

Good for you! :appluase:

I hope you find a lot of great ways of using the time that's no longer wasted in front of the idiot box. :)

28. Cable-free for over 10 years
I get most of Olbermann on the web, and that's my TV fix for the day. I do have a TV, but haven't turned it on for at least a year. I probably need to figure out how to hook up the DVD player: watching movies on the computer gives me a headache.
