Got an email from AAR station KPTK in Seattle regarding anti-abortion ad:

I had emailed the station after hearing the anti-abortion ads that have been running on AAR's local Seattle affiliate, KPTK 1090. I got the following response today:

We have attempted to get the commercials off our air, but have found it very difficult. CBS legal has encouraged us to air them sighting free speech and censorship reasons. Personally, I know that their interpretation of the facts is a stretch and misleading. The commercials air through this week. Planned Parenthood has a counter campaign on the air. (it is unfortunate that this is the case)

KPTK does its best to operate in the public interest. Making available both points of view, no matter the subject. Legally we have to. The bigger issue here is whether or not untruths are being told. This is a tough spot to be in and I can only do what our legal advisers say.

KPTK and CBS do not endorse the ads and the ads do not necessarily reflect the views of KPTK or CBS. We would never encourage you to support a product or service that you don't believe in.

I truly am sorry that this has happened and I thank you for listening to AM-1090.

I appreciated the quick answer. I did hear the ad again today, but the station put a disclaimer on just prior to airing the ad. From the email, sounds like this is the last week we in the Seattle area will hear it.

It shows a consideration that I didn't expect...

The ad is really, really offensive, and it's a shame that a progressive radio station is being forced to air it.

The commercials are a travesty.

I'm glad this is the last week they are running. Every time I hear it, I just cringe.
