Poll question: Bette Midler or Andrews Sisters?
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy

Bette Midler - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy

Andrews Sisters - Song & Dance - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy

He was a famous trumpet man from out chicago way.
He had a boogie style that no one else could play.
He was the top man at his craft,
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft.
He’s in the army now. he’s blowin’ reveille.
He’s the boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.

They made him blow a bugle for his uncle sam.
It really brought him down because he could not jam.
The captain seemed to understand,
Because the next day the cap’ went out and drafted the band.
And now the company jumps when he plays reveille.
He’s the boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.

A root, a toot, a toodlie-a-da-toot.
He blows it eight to the bar in boogie rhythm.
He can’t blow a note unless a bass and guitar
Is playin’ with him.
And the company jumps when he plays reveille.
He’s the boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.

He was some boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.
And when he played his boogie woogie bugle
He was busy as a busy bee.
And when he played he made the company jump eight to the bar.
He’s the boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.

Andata toodliata-toodliata toot toot
He blows it eight to the bar.
He can’t blow a note if a bass and guitar
Isn’t with him.
And the company jumps when he plays reveille.
He’s the boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.

He puts the boys to sleep with boogie every night,
And wakes ’em up the same way in the early bright.
They clap their hands and stamp their feet,
’cause they know how it goes when someone gives him a beat.
Woah, woah, he wakes ’em up when he plays reveille.
The boogie woogie bugle boy of company b.

A root, a toot, a toodli-a-da to toot toot toot
He’s blowin’ eight to the bar.
Yeah, he can’t blow a note if a bass and guitar
Isn’t, woah, with him.
And the company jumps when he plays reveille.
He’s the boogie woogie bugle boy of company b

4. Why would I subject myself to that? No thanks.
Really I don't feel that strongly about it either way - just backing up my vote for the andrews sisters.

5. The Andrews Sisters kicked ass
but if you haven't seen Midler, you're not really in a situation to judge properly.

10. I voted for Bette.
Only because she gave a new audience to this song.

I'm planning on seeing the Divine Miss M this year in Vegas.

7. Love them both but Bette Midler is one of my favorite entertainers
In fact, she was one of the five people I listed that I would love to meet in person. I think she is one of the few true entertainers working today.

9. That's exactly why I like her. She NEVER fails to be entertaining
and she always shares her "joie de vivre" with her audience. She reminds me of the great entertainers of yesterday,i.e. Jack Benny, George Burns, Bob Hope, etc. She's a link to a bygone era. She was featured in Parade this week in case you didn't know. She is taking over Celine Dion's position in Vehas. Should be great. And I am happy to be on your list of friends!:hi:

14. Haha...I've performed to that song hundreds of times!

The Andrews Sisters version. I like listening to Bette's version more, but my choreographer-boss chose the other, as part of a 1940s era suite. We even performed it when he received a Kennedy Center Honor (in '92.)

15. I like both.
I voted for Bette but the Andrew Sisters were great also.

I have been to 3 of Bette's concerts in the past, they were something to see.
