Someone in my Aikido class dissed American Idol tonight

Right after I said, "I hope I set the DVR -- I don't want to miss the first few minutes!!!, "she said (imagine thick Russsian accent): "The show DISGUSTS me!"

What the fuck ever, little Miss Bolshoi Ballet.

She's lucky Aikido is all about harmony and ki... or I would have kicked her ass.

Okay, I don't have a great voice, but I know that, and would NEVER try out for AI. However, I can carry a tune and have a really good ear for pitch. Some of these people are soooo off tune, yet think they are magnificent.

I'm more disgusted with the pandering to schadenfreude I've seen in excerpts. Maybe you tune in to see people sing; I believe many more watch to see what carefully-scripted put-downs Simon will emit, and to see contestants humiliated for daring to aspire to success above their station.

It's a Fox product, and that means it's a distraction meant to keep you from noticing the real crimes against humanity they abet.

But sometimes the kids can carry a tune, and sometimes the judges have something fun to say and oh hell, not all entertainment has to be so damned "deep"

Not a shred of talent. Everybody's trying to sing the same annoying songs in the same annoying way with the same annoying fake vibrato and ornamentation. Some are just better at it than others and make the cut.

I prefer "So you think you can dance" or "America's got talent". There's people on there who can actually dance and sing something besides the one, specific, sickening genre AI's after.
