List your internal combustion driven inventory. here's mine:
It drives me nuts. Cannot imagine trying to live way out here on a farm and no oil. Mea culpa. Now that I've been environmentally humble, let me say I think they are a blast and love using these gas hogs. All kinds of ways to maim, blind, kill myself in the line of duty.

Wow, I've been living in terror of triffids since I saw that movie at the Dickinson Theater in Mission, KS in 1964 or so.

5. As a city dweller, I've just got the one
a mid-90s model station wagon that I might drive 10,000 miles a year, if I visit my mother in a town 100 miles away once a month. I live in a condo, so I don't have a yard to mow.

I drive to work, only because it's actually cheaper for me to pay for parking than it is to take the bus, sadly. However, I only live a few miles from my office, and oftentimes walk or bike to work in the summer.

In that respect, I lead a fairly low-impact life, but I know that it's not practical for everyone to live like me.

9. I can ride to work, about 12 miles one way....
I also have a kid carrier trailer to pull behind the bike to haul stuff around. The reality we're facing is trying to maintain property without using oil. Goats may be the best option if a) we can fence well enough to keep them in; b) they don't totally remove every piece of vegetation on the place.

20. goats!
I had an uncle who had two goats on his farm for that very reason. It was only a few acres of grass, but the goats kept it down to stubble.

The next summer when I visited, the goats were gone. But I never did hear what happened to them...

Seriously, goats will eat anything growing, the rougher the better. They can be used as living weed/brush removers on rough land.

2001 Chevy Siverado (1/2 ton, w/shell % rack)
2005 Nissan Maxima
1991 Isuzu Trooper (spare/emergency vehicle; sees intermittent service)

We live on a small suburban lot, so our "farming equipment" consists of:

1 pushmower (kept well-sharpened and oiled, and our lot is fairly flat)
1 electric weedeater (just for edging)
various snips, saws, pruning shears, etc. for the trees and bushes.

Gotta' agree with ya' on how fun it is to use some of that stuff...my friends dad was a top sales rep for Catterpillar, and he used to take us out and let us drive some of the equipment in the storage yard (which was huge). I actually got to drive one of the big 35 sq. yd. front end loaders before they were shipped to China...what a rush that was!

32. OK, I'll answer this time:
1) My Volvo C70 convertible (old style, with the cloth top). High-pressure turbo and chipped, along with other modifications. Fast as hell, crappy gas mileage, and I apologize to nobody. Driven less than 4K miles per year, because it's the fun car. And yes, if gasoline goes to five bucks a gallon, I have no right to complain, so I won't.

2) Mrs R's Volvo S60. The perfect family sedan, and returns 30-plus MPG on the highway, even with the weight of the AWD system.

(PS: both cars filter ozone out of the air as they drive, because they have that catalytic coating on the radiators.)

3) One lawnmower, which I assume is clean because it's new and has a 4-stroke engine. Not sure of the details, because I don't do the lawn mowing.

4) A 6500-watt generator, which I really have to take in for an oil change and a tuneup, since it hasn't been used for about 10 years.

Power washer
Leaf blower (mainly used to stoke fires, but occasionally used for its intended purpose)
A couple of walk-behind mowers
Small outboard boat engine
Electric start Chipper-Shredder
5Kw Generator

Reviewing my list I know that it looks pretty bad, but I can only run one machine at a time and some of these machines haven't run in years. The reason for the various sizes is because it doesn't make much sense to get out a huge Stihl chain saw when the baby Echo will get the job done (plus I swear that damned Stihl gains 10 lb. every winter.) It's the same thing with the roto-tillers, why get out the big cast iron beast when the little 2 stroke Matis will get the job done (tilling a big garden out back is a different job from tilling the flower beds around the house.)

69. Nature doesn't let up for even a moment.
Sometimes it seems like fighting gravity. I would be defeated in a month without my machines.

76. You're right. The work never stops...
Wife and I have discussed just how long we can stay out here. By the time I'm 70 I may not be able to do it all. Of course, there's a lot that can be hired out, all it takes is time and money.

79. I drove a '93 Aerostar for 13 years, our minivan period
Best vehicle I ever owned, what a trouper he was. We got past the need for having a minivan anymore, so he got put out to pasture. Replaced it with the 'Nox, another great vehicle.

NW Ohio here, but luckily have only needed to fire it up for one storm. We have had quite a bit of snow, but only a couple of inches at a time, not one big storm like last year.
