Favorite Heath Ledger role!
I know everyone will pounce this thread and go with Brokeback Mountain - which he did a tremendous job in that role. But I think the first movie that made me realize he was a talent to be reckoned with would have to be "Monster's Ball" where he played the racist redneck son of Billy Bob Thorton.

Plus I have to fess us - after "Ten Things I hate about You" - I had a such a crush on him. That was definitely one of the better teen movies created and a unique twist on a Shakespeare classic.

2. I've only seen A Knight's Tale, which wasn't that great...
But Heath as The Joker in The Dark Night looks badass.

8. Knight's Tale Was Your Basic Popcorn Movie
But thanks to Ledger and Paul Bettany, it was highly enjoyable fodder.

3. Ennis Del Mar
is what he'll always be remembered for.

Maybe The Joker - but we haven't seen that yet.

6. Yeah.
I saw "A Knight's Tale". Nice. But it doesn't even slightly compare to Ennis Del Mar. No, we haven't seen him as The Joker yet. But I think he'll always be known for "Brokeback Mountain".

9. I loved A Knight's Tale
it wasn't a great film, but it was clever. It wasn't what I expected.

5. He was the best thing about The Patriot
as Mel Gibson's oldest son.

I liked it just because it showed the Revolutionary War from the southern side. But I realized watching it that HL was the one with the talent in that film.

7. I've only seen him in Casanova and The Brothers Grimm.
Effortless acting....which seems to be the hallmark of all excellent actors.
I really enjoyed his dancing at the end of The Brothers Grimm. :)

10. How was the Brothers Grimm?
I didn't see it. I love Gilliam, but something about that movie just had the "stay away!" stink about it.

Is it worth seeing?

24. It was a very disappointing movie over all, but Heath Ledger and Matt Damon were both enjoyable.

11. Honestly? Brokeback was the ONLY role I've ever liked Ledger in.
For me he was a blip on the screen before Brokeback.

14. If you haven't seen "Monster Ball" check it out
Not only for a great supporting performance by Ledger - but Billy Bob Thorton and Halle Berry both rocked in that movie. But to be honest the best role in that movie was Peter Boyle. Boyle just sickened you as the racist grandfather and it was through Boyle you realized why both Thorton and Ledger turned out the way they did - that racism isn't something you just pick up on the streets somewhere but is taught from generation to generation.

17. brokeback was the groundbreaking film
of it's time.

it was the ''streetcar'' of it's time -- with acting performances from everyone that will withstand scrutiny through it all.

heath hit it out of the acting ballpark with that role.

20. I thought he was a gifted actor...he was great in Candy
and Ned Kelly, and The Order, even though it was kind of a cheesy movie, he played his part well.

23. Don't forget Four Feathers and The Order
I don't know what was my favorite role, but I thought I would mention the lesser known roles.

I also enjoyed 10 things I hate about you. What did he do that was so racist or redneck-ish in Monster's Ball? He had some black friends that Billy Bob chased away.
