The Prisoner was made in the mid 1960s during the spy film craze.

In the opening sequence, you see Patrick McGoohan's character being knocked out by some sort of gas after he has resigned from some sort of secret govt. agency.

He wakes up in a Disneyfied-looking seacoast town called The Village. He doesn't know why he's there, and all sorts of surreal things happen as he tries to escape.

I can still recite the recurring opening dialogue:

"Where am I?"

"In The Village?"

"What do you want?"

"Information."

"Whose side are you on?"

"That would be telling. We want information."

"You won't get it."

"By hook or by crook, we will."

"Who are you?"

"The new Number Two."

"Who is Number One?"

"You are Number Six."
