why all this suicide threads today?
I mean some of us are living with ideation everyday , and only when it happens to a famous person does it get center stage ,only to fade away as yesterdays news , social dynamics are weird , to me at least.

1. Especially when you consider...
they don't even know if it was suicide.

2. Exactly
On Olbermann last night it was brought up that Ledger was being treated for severe pneumonia at the time of his death. Remember Jim Henson? ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) is a real possibility.

I'd advise people to cool their jets until after the autopsy. And if they have any decency whatsoever, show some restraint even if the postmortem suggests suicide. I'm not a fanatic movie goer, so I wasn't even aware of who Keith Ledger was until yesterday. But the death of anyone that young is tragic. Unless you have some information that the rest of us mortals aren't privy to, I wouldn't be so quick to pass judgment.

4. It's an important topic
It's something that people don't like to talk about but we really should. I think it's one of those things that is so often hushed and kept secret, stigmatized. Feeling suicidal is very isolating and I think there's a benefit in knowing that others have felt the same way and have survived it. Perhaps weird the way we fixate on a subject for a while but, in this case anyway, I think there's a possibility that opening the dialog may save lives.
