7. They still have all the fat -- they just don't have man-made fat in them anymore
Transfats are an unhealthy addition to food to make it more shelf-stable. Transfats are what make Hostess cakes last for months.

8. I know it is bad and nasty, but food doesn't taste right without it.
That is the true shame! That we have gotten so used to the bad stuff.

Now, REAL fat does.

10. Why don't they just use LARD. No trans fat! Honest.
http://www.thehealthierlife.co.uk/article/3378/trans-fatty-acids.html

Selected quote:

And similar observations have been voiced many times by US physician Dr William Campbell Douglass II. Late last year Dr. Douglass wrote: "Countless studies show that the MORE animal fats people eat, the better their heart health. Need some proof from the real world? The African Masai, North American Eskimos, Japanese, Greeks, Okinawans, and our good friends the French all consume diets that are extremely high (by mainstream American standards) in saturated animal fats. Yet these people enjoy astonishingly low rates of heart disease, hypertension, and coronary events."

So pass me some lard at once.

13. I cut trans fat out of my diet totally. If you like cookies ...
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 01:20 PM by Akoto
I have to recommend Voortman brand. They are delicious and no hydrogenated oils!

After my mom's heart attack, I decided to make one drastic change to my diet, and cutting out the trans fat was it. Some things don't taste the same, but after seeing what mom went through in the hospital, that's okay. I can adjust. ;)
