1. Anti-circumcision posts in GD.
I'm a Jew, and my penis is just fine, thankyouverymuch.

2. Not really sure. I don't get offended by much. Racist remarks piss me off.
 I am sure there is much much more!

3. I imagine it's what offends most people...
I get upset when people make racist comments, or gay jokes, or jokes about mentally or physically handicapped people. Or Holocaust jokes, as that's rather personal to my family history. I think it's low, and also stupid that someone's humour is uncreative enough that they have to stoop to reach for that kind of material.

But other than that... not much. :hi:

4. The breathtaking stupidity on parade in GD-P.
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 02:45 PM by Old Broad
I can't take it anymore. It is so infested with a new crop of nut job right wingers
posing as concerned Dems that the level of discourse sounds like a second grade
playground after one kid pushes another all hell breaks loose.

Does any school in our country teach critical thinking skills anymore?

5. The term "trailer trash" offends me.
I live in a mobile home and it is so annoying to hear that term. Why do others look down their noses at those who live in mobile homes? I am not a beer-drinking, foul-mouthed, ignorant redneck Republican. That is "white trash."

11. Me too. My Grandma chose to live in a trailer.
Her house was too big for her too keep up as she got old. Also, she was such a perfectionist that she would never say "screw-it, I'm not pulling weeds today." So rather than live in an apartment with no yard, we found a very nice trailer park for her.

6. Banjokes!
I get really pissed when people make jokes about banjo players.

"What six words will you never hear at a bluegrass festival? Is that the banjo player's Porsche."

How many banjo players does it take to change a light bulb? One to complain that that's not how Earl would've done it; one to stand around a say he could've done it better; one to grip about the electricity .... etc.

I just hate those.

Bake

Oh. I play the banjo.

7. the stereotype that all scientists
are cold callous indiviiduals, and either a) are unethical money grubbers b) given the opportunity would do nazi like experiments to people.
Almost all that I know are the nicest more passionate (in a dedicated to science and humanity way) interesting smart people you will ever meet..even if some are less socially adept then others.
I see this meme here alot..and it really offends me.

8. for me...
I get offended by statements that are blatantly intended to hurt people (racism, homophobia, etc). Personally I don't get too upset about what people say, when I consider the source most times but it bothers me when it upsets those around me.

I really don't care.

Outrage for the sake of outrage is stupid.

10. Dismissive attitudes. I got enough of that growing up.
I don't tolerate it now.

The assumption that I must have the same sensibilities as whomever to be a good person. A few examples. I don't accept that being against illegal immigration is the same as being rascist or anti-immigrant. I also don't appreciate it when people assume I'm a really paranoid Republican just because I'm standing in a gun range. And I don't think that either faith or patriotism is a virtue. I think the goal of public health and controlling the causes of disease by restricting smoking is worth sacrificing a very small amount of self-determination.

General stupidity, however you want to define it, is always offensive. You may not agree that the Constitution means what I think it means. That's normal. When someone says it isn't important, that's moronic.

12. Lots of things.
People who abuse service animal policies.

People who park in handicapped spaces.

The entire town of Farmington, CT.

Parents who make drastic permanent non-necessary life-altering or body-altering decisions (ear piercing, circumcision, this guy I know who got his 2 year old tattooed, gender-reassignment) for small children unnecessarily.

PNAC.

Chain emails dubiously-attributed to famous people which imply I'm a bad American.

Homophobia.

Political Correctness.

Religious conservatives who cannot even logically defend their beliefs.

Gun Control.

Oversensitivity. (I'm a staunch civil libertarian. Free speech includes the right to offend, even intentionally. Nowhere do you have a right to not be offended.)

Sean Hannity.

Death Penalty Advocates.

People who verbally-attack/criticize Veg(etari)ans for not eating animals and animal products.

People who verbally-attack/criticize "intentionally childfree" people for not having kids/not wanting to deal with the ramifications of OPC. (Other Peoples' Children)

People who bring their 2 year-old to expensive, fine-dining, romantic, $50 entree restaurants. It doesn't belong there.

13. People who refuse to think
Most people can't think,
most of the remainder won't think,
the small fraction who do think mostly can't do it very well.
