Finally got the new job I was trying to get for the past two years!
I was being blocked by my manager from leaving my current job because I was doing so well (I will never make that mistake again!).
Well, the manager is gone now (moved to corporate) and the new guy they brought in to clean up the mess pulled me aside in December and told me he would not stand in my way if I put in for the next opening.
I did and I have the job!
It pays 63% more than my current job and with overtime I should easily make twice what I do now.
I keep thinking about what a risk the old manager was taking by blocking me! He cost me at least 65 thousand dollars in lost wages by blocking me for the past two years. He was really rolling the dice! He didn't know me well- I could have been the type to go postal and cap his ass. Lucky for him I am a peaceful person and sane(I hope).
The karma is going against him now- he is working for a guy that he forced out about a year ago. His new job entails commuting to our south american operations and doing audits. Hey Steve, don't drink the water buddy!

My dad used to say "be careful of the toes you step on today because they might be connected to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow." :-)

Forgot to say Congrats!!

5. HeyHEY, yes there are plans for the money....
I will retire all my debts (14k left on the homestead and 12k left on the car note). I will also increase the 401k to the max and open a Roth IRA. We have a pension plan at work that will allow me to retire at 57 and draw on it right away or wait til I hit 65 and get the full amount. I am also going to increase my giving. A new cause for me is animal spay/neuter programs.
