Flight to London makes emergency landing after co-pilot suffers mental breakdown
The co-pilot of a Heathrow-bound plane had to be forcibly removed from the cockpit after suffering a mental breakdown while in control of the flight.

He began yelling, crying and "invoking God" as the Air Canada 767 flew over the Atlantic. He was held down by other crew members and a passenger who was a member of the Canadian armed forces.

The co-pilot then had restraints fastened to his wrists and ankles and was handcuffed to a seat.

The flight from Toronto was forced to make an emergency landing in Shannon and the co-pilot was taken off the plane.

He was taken by ambulance to a psychiatric ward.

1. Gaw, why do I _always_ see stories like this just before I have to fly somewhere?

it's a fluke

a statistical anomaly

and it ended okay for the passengers

4. Thank you, friend.
I've gotta fly to Geneva on Monday in one of those smaller aircraft; the flight entails a breathtaking passage over the Alps, but I'm always skeered to look. (Bigger planes don't bother me, but 50 seats or less: yikes.)

I'd like to go to Ireland again myself

heck of a way go to though

hope he gets well

gotta wonder if drugs were involved

I mean, to have gotten to the point of being a co-pilot surely they screen with psychological evaluations as well
